Prototype Experiments Assessing Arsenic and Iron Removal Efficiencies through Adsorption Using Natural Skye Sand

چکیده
Based on earlier batch and column experimental results, it was established that Skye sand is suitable for removing arsenic from water through adsorption. As a real-size prototype may not always replicate results experiments, this paper presents removal filter using the same used in experiments. arsenic-contaminated often associated with high concentration of iron, which causes blockage system, study also investigates iron media. First, several physical properties were XRF, XRD, SEM EDX analyses. Then, made based an design similar oxide-coated (IOCS). It found current capable consistently to level below detection limit (0.05 µg/L) considerable period (up 150 bed volumes). Additionally, WHO-acceptable (0.3 mg/L). Analytical calculation suggests can produce arsenic-free continuously 600 days (100 L per day) feed 500 µg/L.

Arsenic removal from water using natural iron mineral-quartz sand columns.
The study has investigated the feasibility of using siderite-coated quartz sand and/or hematite-coated quartz sand columns for removing As from water. Arsenic-spiked tap water and synthetic As solution with As concentrations from 200 to 500 mug/L were used for the experiments. Since three coating methods employed to prepare siderite-coated quartz sand and hematite-coated quartz sand had no sign...
متن کاملArsenic Removal Using Iron-modified Zeolites
We determined the ability of two iron-and-zeolite materials to remove arsenic from groundwater. The first material is composed of iron, surfactant-modified zeolite, and hard silicate foam, and is known as Surfactant-Modified Zeolite/ Zero-Valent Iron (SMZ/ZVI). The second material is a new formulation that consists of iron-modified zeolite (IMZ). We prepared eight different prototypes of IMZ fo...
متن کامل1 Arsenic removal from groundwater using iron
10 11 We demonstrate that electrocoagulation (EC) using iron electrodes can reduce arsenic 12 below 10 µg/L in synthetic Bangladesh groundwater and in real groundwater from 13 Bangladesh and Cambodia while investigating the effect of operating parameters that are 14 often overlooked, such as charge dosage rate. We measure arsenic removal performance 15 over a larger range of current density tha...
متن کاملremoval of arsenic from aqueous solutions using welding iron waste
background: contamination of water with arsenic has attracted the researchers’ attention as a global problem in recent years and has been observed in some parts of iran. the purpose of this study is to assess the efficiency of welding iron waste in removing arsenic from aqueous solutions. methods: in this study, the effects of different parameters, such as ph (3-9), initial concentration of a...
متن کاملAdsorption of arsenic(III) and arsenic(V) from groundwater using natural siderite as the adsorbent.
Batch and column tests were performed utilizing natural siderite to remove As(V) and As(III) from water. One hundred milligrams of siderite was reacted at room temperature for up to 8 days with 50 mL of 1000 microg/L As(V) or As(III) in 0.01 M NaCl. Arsenic concentration decreased exponentially with time, and pseudoequilibrium was attained in 3 days. The estimated adsorption capacities were 520...
